How to use DMS data to get a sense for what your real sales are

In a perfect world, when a customer buys a car, your team seamlessly merges the DMS record with the CRM data for that customer, and you have a single, simple source of truth of that customer with everything from the lead to the sale.

But we don't live in a perfect world! So how can you tell a unified story of all your sales, regardless of where it's logged? And understand where the gaps are between systems?

Welcome...... to the DMS Reconciliation Report in Connect!

You can set whichever filters you want, but it will ultimately output four Sold counts:

  • Sold in CRM, no DMS data available

    • This is the case when a DMS is not connected to a location, or DMS data is lagging

  • Sold in CRM, matched to DMS

    • this is what we expect to see when everything goes right!

  • Sold in CRM, no match to DMS

    • prompt your team to look into the customer and see if the deal was actually finalized.

  • Sold in DMS, no match to CRM

    • prompt your team to find the right CRM record for this deal, they have to be somewhere!

Then a list of all customers (with VINs + PII) for you to look into your source systems to get to the bottom of what is going on.
