When it comes to metrics, there are three need-to-know benchmarks: Open Rate, Click Rate, and Click-to-Open Rate.

Open Rate

1. What is it?

Percent of emails that are opened (Opened Emails ÷ Sent Emails)

2. What does it tell me?

The first step to getting in front of a customer is ensuring that they open the email. Engaging, personalized subject lines that tell the recipient “hey there’s great info in this email, you just need to open it first” is how Foureyes has industry leading open rates.

3. What’s the industry average?

Average = 10.25%*

Note: With the release of Apple Mail's privacy updates, Open Rate is an increasingly unreliable metric for evaluating email performance. Learn more here.

Click Rate

1. What is it?

Percent of emails that are clicked (Clicked Emails ÷ Sent Emails)

2. What does it tell me?

Foureyes drives customers back to your site to view your inventory and ultimately come down to the dealership. Click rate tells us how efficiently we’re getting that done. Click rate is largely affected by open rate.

3. What’s the industry average?

Average = 0.99%*

CTO Rate or “Click-to-Open” Rate

1. What is it?

Percent of emails that are clicked after being opened (Clicked Emails ÷ Opened Emails)

2. What does it tell me?

CTO or “Click-to-open” rate tells us how effective the content is within the email. In other words, how often is someone clicking a vehicle after they’ve looked at the content? This demonstrates how effective the vehicle recommendations are due to the personalized/dynamic touch. Click-to-open rate is not affected by open rate.

3. What’s the industry average?

Average = 9.69%*
